From Idea to Impact: Finding Gaps in Your Problem Space Online
Are you looking to solve big problems, but you’re not sure where to start? In this online workshop, Waterloo’s Entrepreneurship Librarian, Rachel Figueiredo, will show you how to understand the landscape of a problem and possibly identify paths to how you might contribute to a solution. By integrating library-subscription and openly available tools, attendees will learn how to research efficiently so they can get back to solving problems.
This workshop will consist of 50 minutes of instruction, followed by a Q&A. Registrants will receive presentation slides in advance of the workshop, and closed captioning will be available.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explore frameworks to make sense of an existing problem space
- Find academic sources through Scopus to understand the history and context of their problem
- Find non-traditional resources from NGOs, Think Tanks and government organizations
- Incorporate tools like Google and Copilot ethically and efficiently into the research process
Must be a Waterloo student, staff or faculty member to attend. No prior knowledge is required to participate.
