Generative AI for Research: Literature Tools Showcase In-Person
This workshop demonstrates how five AI enabled tools compare for finding literature.
Participants rotate through five stations, one for each tool. At each station a facilitator will provide a brief overview covering the tool's creator, underlying model(s), corpus, key features, and what account or subscription is needed to access it. The facilitator will then run a live demonstration search.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Compare tools across key dimensions: corpus coverage, model type, available features, and access requirements.
- Evaluate search results from multiple AI tools for the same query to assess accuracy, completeness, and potential bias.
- Select tools appropriate to their own research needs and stage of the research process.
Must be a Waterloo student, staff or faculty member to attend.
This in-person workshop has limited capacity; please register to reserve your seat. If you have accommodation requests or questions, reach out to libevents@uwaterloo.ca with your needs.
Please note: This workshop is part of a three-part series on using Generative AI in the research process. We recommend attending all three; please register for each workshop separately.
