Anti-Racism Reads: Alt-Right From 4Chan to the White House In-Person

Have you ever wondered how certain fringe terminology pops up in the speeches and policies of cabinet leaders and even the President? Join us at the Libraries for an engaging discussion about Mike Wendling's Alt-Right: From 4Chan to the White House. Wendling's book explores how racist and misogynistic language from the 'far right' found its way into mainstream conversations. Together, we'll look into how Reddit forums influenced policies that impact all of us.

This small, conversation-based book club will meet biweekly for six sessions:

September 24: Introduction & Chapter 1
October 8: Chapters 2, 3 & 4
October 22: Chapters 5 & 6
November 5: Chapters 7 & 8
November 19: Chapters 9 & 10
December 3: Chapters 11 & 12

Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions, as discussions are designed as a cumulative learning experience that relies on ongoing engagement.

This is an in-person event with limited capacity; please register to reserve your seat for the full series. If you have accommodation requests or are unexpectedly unable to attend a session, contact libevents@uwaterloo.ca.

Registration is required. There are 10 seats available.
